I guess you haven't had time to deal with this issue, but I'm sure you've hit the nail on the head. I've aliased the GROUP tag, rescanned the library, and now Kodi et al play items on the playlists as expected.

There will be a fix for this problem in the next MinimServer update. Thanks for your help with finding it.
