Adding Composer to Work using Minimserver/SongKong - HardBop - 27-12-2020 18:11

I'm using Minimserver 2 with SongKong for Melco and have been trying to add Composer to Work for classical music following the update on a recent SongKong release. Despite posting on the SongKong forum and following instructions from Paul Taylor it still alludes me. Do I need to re-configure any Minimserver properties in addition to those with SongKong to get this to work? Thanks.

No changes to MinimServer properties are needed. You need to do a MinimServer rescan to pick up the changes that SongKong has made to your Work tags.

Hi, at the moment I dont have enough information from you to know if problem is at SongKong/MinimServer or Control Point end. Please run Create Support Files, added new message at https://community.jthink.net/t/adding-composer-to-work/9657/5

Thanks for the support files, the problem is that on the Basic tab you have modified For songs already fully matched to Ignore, from the more usual Update Metadata and Filename Only so this prevents further changes to the metadata of already matched files.

Now for a little more detail.
It looks like you first ran SongKong against the folder during Report 1869, and at this point you had most fields added to Classical:Never modify or add these fields so SongKong could only add the minimal set of identifiers. Then on subsequent runs you removed the fields from this list but because Ignore was set these files were simply ignored in subsequent reruns of Fix Songs. If you set For songs already fully matchedback to Update Metadata and Filename Only and rerun Fix Songs I think it should now work.

Simon, I've been exchanging posts with Paul Taylor on the SongKong forum regarding trying to accurately format my albums by adding Composer to Work. However, in working through this I have an issue which I'll explain below for which Paul suggested I use the Minimserver forum.
In auto and manually editing albums in SongKong I have found that whilst the separate Works are correctly displayed under "Work" on my Naim App/iPad control point and sorted by Composer now, I have lost the display of the whole album (all works in that album) which previously were displayed in for example, "Albums" and in "Complete Album" in the Work tab. It is useful for albums that contain many short works to be able to play the whole album rather than having to open and play each Work (track(s)) separately. I believe this has been caused by my duplicating the songs (tracks) in Work and Minimserver Group on SongKong??
I have experimented with one album by removing the Minimserver Group entries for each song, which re-instates the complete album option but then does not enable me to play each "work" from that album, it only lists the separate songs (tracks) for the work from that album.
So ideally what I would like is to retain the option of playing the whole album, through selection using any of the tabs e.g. album, composer, but retain the option of selecting individual works through the "Work" tab.
Is this feasible and how do I get to this point?
Many thanks.

I think it is the Naim app that is causing the problem. I will do some experiments and post back here.

Very interesting Simon! Following your comment I tried 2 other control apps. I occasionally use - Linn Kazoo and MConnect - and these both seem to work as I would want. So the problem seems to lie with the Naim App. As I mainly use this App it would be good if there were a workable solution. Thanks.

To play a complete album including all groups within the album, do the following:

1) Open the album
2) On the album title line at the top of the screen, click the 3 dots icon
3) In the pop-up that displays, click Play

To play a single group (work) within an album, do the following:

1) Open the album
2) On the group title line, click the 3 dots icon
3) In the pop-up that displays, click Play

Thanks Simon, yes, that seems to have resolved the problem. Now able to easily select single work or the complete album using the Naim App.
