EQ per album or even track
To counter 'room boom' (or room modes) in the 40Hz area (identified using REW and a UMIK-1 mic) I am using parametric EQ with this line:

stream.options: convOut=-af equalizer=f=40:width_type=q:width=11:g=-17

This seems to be working well and taming the boom on bassy tracks.
The problem is that it is also cutting the bass on tracks that really need more bass rather than less bass e.g. some older classical.

Is there a way to apply EQ to individual albums (folders) or even tracks please?
I'm thinking some kind of text file in the folder which replaces or overrides the stream.options one.

Thank you.

PS MinimServer is excellent.

RE: EQ per album or even track
It isn't possible to have different convOut settings for specific files or folders.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I thought this may be the case. Is it technically possible? If so, do you have a feature request list that people can add to and vote on to determine popularity and therefore whether it is worth your time and effort on implementation? I see that the post has already received 154 views so it may be something that many are interested in.

Almost anything is technically possible with software. There are significant difficulties with implementing this but it is not impossible.

I don't have a voting system for feature requests. Any feature request is evaluated and prioritised based on various criteria including difficulty of implementation, the complexity it would add to the implementation or documentation, how well it fits into the design architecture and future technical direction for MinimServer and MinimStreamer, whether or not it enables other useful functionality beyond the specific request, and how much demand there is for the feature relative to other requested features, based mostly on how many requests there have been on the forum for various features over a significant period of time.

Thank you simoncn for taking the time to provide such a comprehensive answer. I too am a systems/software developer and so appreciate the difficulties of balancing feature requests with the resources available.

Thanks for this response. If something like this were to be supported in the future, I think the best way to select it would be by means of a tag in the file. The is similar to existing standard tags that can be used to control replay gain processing. Does this seem like a reasonable approach?

That seems like an elegant solution as then EQ control would be at track level and would be embedded in the sound file. I like it very much.
