RE: Kinsky & Minimserver - some new user questions
Hi there. I'm still exploring how best to group my music in Genres and Subgenres. You've informed me that Minimserver does not (currently?) support the iTunes Grouping field and have advised me to add another tag field to my music files and have Minimserver create an index for that.
So now I am looking how to do just this. I use Apple Losseless, stored in .m4a files. I plan on creating an index "group" for that with "broad values" such as "Jazz", and use the Genre index for more detailed divisions. For example, music from Miles Davis will be indexed as part of the "Jazz" Group and have "Post-Bop" (or maybe "Jazz \\ Post-Bop") as Genre. I use Jaikoz to tag my music. In Jaikoz there is the possibility to use a number of custom fields. There is this Jaikoz field "custom 1" that I plan to use for grouping purposes. From the Jaikoz developer I have learned that Jaikoz actually uses "a reverse dns atom: ----:com.apple.iTunes:CUSTOM1" to store information in the Jaikoz "custom 1" field. So now I think that all I need to do know is have Minimserver create an index on this ----:com.apple.iTunes:CUSTOM1 field? Only thing is, I really have no clue how to do this.... From your User Guide I understand that I need to add another field in the Index Tags in Properties, but I'm not sure what info I should enter there. Do I just enter Custom1? Or do I need to enter ----:com.apple.iTunes:CUSTOM1 (including the ----: at the beginning?) Thanks again for helping me out :-) Greetz, Willem |
