RE: Restriction of BBC Radio HLS/DASH to authorised third parties
When replying to a post, please try to avoid quoting large blocks of text from previous posts. This makes the forum very hard to read. This usually happens because you click the Reply button, which populates your reply with a quote of the entire previous message. This message might itself have quoted the message before it, leading to many levels of nested quoted posts that provides no useful information.
This simplest way to avoid doing this is to use the larger New Reply button when replying to a post instead of using the smaller Reply button. It's also good to use the Preview Post button to preview what you are about to post before you use the Post Reply button to post it. There are occasions when you need to quote some text from a previous post to provide a context for what you are saying in your reply (for example, the quoting of post #84 in post #119). In these cases, use the Reply button and edit down the quoted text as appropriate. I have pruned or removed redundant quoted text from the last few posts to this thread. |
