(Yesterday 07:06)till burkert Wrote:  Not sure I misread the User Guide? Under the heading "Custom Artist index sorting" it says:

Set the tagValue property to:
Artist.value.sort={ArtistSort}, ...

Correct, Artist.value.sort applies only a custom sort.

Each index item has a tag, index and sort attribute, all of which are initialised with the incoming tag value.

Code:
Tag             | Index            | Sort
----------------|------------------|----------------
Alicia Keys     | Alicia Keys      | Alicia Keys
Aretha Franklin | Aretha Franklin  | Aretha Franklin
Elton John      | Elton John       | Elton John

The .Index attribute is used for display and sorted by the .Sort attribute, resulting in:

ARTIST INDEX
---------------
Alicia Keys
Aretha Franklin
Elton John

If you change only the .Sort value (Artist.value.sort):

Code:
Tag             | Index            | Sort
----------------|------------------|----------------
Alicia Keys     | Alicia Keys      | Keys, Alicia
Aretha Franklin | Aretha Franklin  | Franklin, Aretha
Elton John      | Elton John       | John, Elton

The list of items (.Index) remains the same, only the order (.Sort) has changed.

ARTIST INDEX
---------------
Aretha Franklin
Elton John
Alicia Keys

If you also change the index value (Artist.value.sort.index):

Code:
Tag             | Index            | Sort
----------------|------------------|----------------
Alicia Keys     | Keys, Alicia     | Keys, Alicia
Aretha Franklin | Franklin, Aretha | Franklin, Aretha
Elton John      | John, Elton      | John, Elton

We've now changed the displayed item (.Index) and the order (.Sort).

ARTIST INDEX
---------------
Franklin, Aretha
John, Elton
Keys, Alicia

Hope that makes sense.
