Melco playlist problems
First post - hi everyone, yes I play trumpet in big bands!
Went to add some new tracks to my playlists to find that the tracks stored on my Melco have no artwork and will not play. Tracks from Qobuz present no problems and play ok. If I re find my CD track and add it back to the playlist all is good. PITA though and defeats the whole idea of a playlist. Only thing I can possibly put it down to is Melco software update and /or Minimserver update FYI. I'm running app controller in hybrid mode Mostly use Kazoo Can use Lumin, Melco HD, problem is the same in them too. Machine is EX series Question - what is what is happening, why, anyone got a fix? I can switch to twonky and start from scratch, which seems the best idea atm I don't see any option but to put back all the tracks stored on the Melco in the playlists manually, better things to do I think!!!! All advice appreciated, but not a large hammer yet!!! |

RE: Melco playlist problems
How did you create your playlists? Was it using a control point app? If so, which control point app?

RE: Melco playlist problems
I have looked at how Kazoo stores playlists and I think this is caused by your Melco changing its IP address since your created your playlists. This can happen from time to time because of the way your router assigns IP addresses to other devices on your local network. Your playlists are still there but they will not work until you set the IP address of your Melco back to what it was when the playlists were created. If you use Twonky instead of MinimServer, you will have the same problem if the IP adddress of your Melco changes.
To find the IP address that your playlists are using, open a playlist that isn't working. Touch and hold one of the tracks, then touch the "3 dots" icon and select Info. At the start of the line named Uri: you should see something like http://192.168.0.23:9790/minimserver/..... This would mean the IP address you need to select for your Melco is 192.168.0.23. This address will be different for you. Make a note of the address you see so that you can use it in the following instructions. Now go to the front panel of your Melco and select Settings > Network > LAN Port. Change the selection from DHCP to Fixed IP. This shows a screen named IP Address. Use the arrow and enter keys to change the four numbers shown here to the IP address you found in the playlist. You will then see three more screens named Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Server. Click through these without changing anything. After this, the front panel will show "Please wait" followed by "Finished". Click OK and your playlists should be working. You should now leave the Melco on Fixed IP to prevent this happening again. The only time this might change back to DHCP is if you do an Initialize Settings. |

Maybe put your solution in a FAQ on your forum? Cheers |

RE: Melco playlist problems
Also glad you have solved the problem UKtrumpetman.
I can confirm that you are not the only person to have had exactly this problem. As far as I understand things this could happen to any "NAS". Having a fixed address does design this problem out. I have also been assured by folk more knowledgeable than myself, that having fixed addresses, both in your Router settings and on individual pieces of equipment, e.g. switch, (where possible), does in theory reduce some digital traffic and possibly noise in the system. Still, it is always fun spending an evening making up new playlists. Donuk, Beautiful downtown York |
