Track and album names displayed with replacement character. How to resolve?

Unfortunately it looks like Mp3tag handles the NUL during tag extraction so it's not possible to filter for it in the application. I tried foobar2000 but see the same behaviour.

I can identify the problem files using metaflac (part of flac encoder install) in powershell (or bash), but unless that population is small it'll likely be quicker and easier just to load all your FLAC files (make sure you don't load any MP3s, or at the very least use the filter '%_tag% HAS "flac" ') and re-save the tags from there, or if TOOL VERSION is populated for all tracks then filter/sort by that e.g. %tool version% IS "15.0.159".


6 months ago I used Mp3tag to add a couple of tags to my whole collection (>30,000 tracks) so I know it's robust, but make sure you have a backup.

If you want to go down the powershell route let me know and I'll put something together.

First and foremost thank you for all the time and effort that you put in helping me.

I think I'll load the relatively few albums with replacement characters and save tags in mp3tag. I probably have about 20 so it might be the most sensible solution...
