Linn does not see Melco NAS
Question: Two weeks ago, I ran two updates on the Dela/Melco, so it now has these versions:
Dela/Melco Software version 4.5
Music Data Base 2.2
and (today) Song Kong 11.9.1

It's strange that the Linn Software sometimes doesn't "see" the Melco anymore. When I rescan the songs and playlists database, it works again.

Yesterday, I ripped a few albums via the D100, and after rescanning the database and playlists, it no longer sees the database.
It even gives me an error message.

What's wrong?

I sent an email to Linn Scotland, but they had no idea, and Melco Netherlands did the same.

I've also noticed that the images (CD covers) are increasingly not coming from the database.
Albums I've previously ripped and are now ripping again don't have an image. This often concerns lesser-known music/artists.

RE: Linn does not see Melco NAS
The problems with the Linn not seeing the MinimServer database is caused by a UPnP discovery problem with your network. These problems can be tricky to solve. See this page for more information about this issue.

As a first step, try powering all your network-attached devices (including the router and any switches) off and on.

If this doesn't help, the problem could be caused by your router having IGMP snooping enabled. What router are you using? Does it have a setting to disable IGMP snooping?

We'll start by turning everything off and on again. We have several switches, as well as several Linn streamers. Last week we also had some problems with a heat pump that's also connected to the network.
The router is a Fritzbox 7583 VDSL
I've previously adjusted it for IGMP snooping. I don't know if it's enabled or not. But first, let's turn everything off and on again! Thank you for now, Pieter

26-11-2025: Response from Melco/Dela:
Start point is to switch to TWONKY server and then make a judgement.
Twonky does rescan in background all the time and the library should be always available.

If in doubt INITIALISE SETTINGS in case something got wrong in the update process.
But remember that downloader and language and time zone will need to be set again.

ERROR without any number usually means system is busy and cannot keep up – this is possible sign of poor HDD taking a long time to read data so priority is a backup – before backup make repair of illegal characters in SUPPORT as it maybe stops backup at some stage if you do not do this first.

When all is stable with Twonky then switch to Minim – remember that the first minim scan on a large library can take a long time.

But as mentioned, first try turning everything off and on again and see if that solves the problem.
Regards, Pieter

RE: Linn does not see Melco NAS
Thanks for sharing this response from DELA.

In my opinion, switching to Twonky and initialising settings will not help with resolving the problems you have described. However, trying this will not cause any problems.

My advice is to make sure you don't have IGMP snooping enabled in your router. If this doesn't immediately resolve the problem, try switching everything off and on.

Update 2 12 2025
On the advice of my internet provider, I disabled the Teredo filter in my router. IGMP snooping can't be disabled in the FritzBox, but that shouldn't be the problem. If it were, there might be no TV picture.

I'm curious to know if the problem has been resolved.

Regards, Pieter

I am not sure how to interpret your last post. Did disabling the Teredo filter in your router fix the problem?

Disabling the Teredo filter had no effect; I re-enabled it. From the router to the Linn/Melco combo, there's a single connection to a Pura Ammonite filter. A second cable runs to a Silent Angel Bonn that only serves the TV. It's strange that both are experiencing interference. The router should be fine, according to the manufacturer.

Strange question, but can adding a Denon HEOS HOME 250 cause a problem?

Thank you again for your response.

RE: Linn does not see Melco NAS
I would not expect that a Denon HEOS speaker would cause this problem.

In a situation like this, I would suggest you create a minimal test network with just your router, the Melco and the Linn, preferably attached directly to the router with Ethernet cables. If you still see the problem, it is caused by the router. If you don't see the problem, add back other components one by one until the problem starts to occur. The last component that you added back should be the cause of the problem.

Ruling out the problem. Job for Sunday morning...We'll give it a try. Thanks again.
