New Album tag
Hi

Is there a New Album tag in Minimserver?
I find it very useful to have a fast access to last added albums.

I am hoping to add support for this in a future release.

In the meantime it's easy enough to add a custom field or use another field you don't use to flag files by month added.

Okey,, thanks.
A comment. A lot of servers have this feature. Mostly it seems like they are looking at information in the file system to decide when a album is added to the collection. This often means that when you edit meta data, the album pops up like "newly added"

The design I have in mind would avoid this problem. The intention is for MinimServer to maintain a list of recently added albums instead of sorting albums by file dates.

Hi

Would you keep a "list" as a property in the song file,, or keep it in the database of Minimserver ?

I think it would be a special playlist in the user's library.

Okay. Until you have implemented your solution,, am I thinking to use a custom property with a date value. Same property should also be among tags that get indexed.

Normally, when I am buying new music and adds it to the library, I always must adjust metadata. It will not be som much extra work to add this property.

Hmmm... I think it would be great if this was implemented similar to how MinimServer displays the AudioQuality container. In other words, any album added with N days, for example, is displayed in a top-level node with the intelligent browsing child nodes available:

NN Albums
MM items
Album Artist
Composer
Genre
Date

...that way, I can quickly browse new stuff as I see fit. Adding these into giant playlist means I have to scroll around, manually, looking for new albums that may/may not be clustered by genre or artists (i.e. list may be compiled by date added to library).

Just my $0.02...

As I understood it, the OP's question was about where the information would be kept. It might be possible to present the information in the way you are suggesting but this is likely to be considerably more work to implement. I will give this some more thought.
