Rescan - taking a long time
If I add a single album to the library (2000 albums) it takes 12 mins for Minimserver to complete a Rescan - startupscan is set to "true"

This is on a 5 bay Synology 1511+ NAS with 1GB ram

Is this to be expected ?

Ian

RE: Rescan - taking a long time
Just as a followup, a complete rescan takes 20 minutes

(Installed latest version after removing the current one so I assume this forces an index rebuild)

It took about 10 seconds to add one album to my single bay NAS (library about 800 albums).

Peter.

Does your content directory contain only music files or does it contain other files as well?

Are all your files on local disks?

If you do a restart instead of a rescan, how long does that take?

All music is in FLAC format stored on the NAS device where Minimserver is installed.

Restart takes about 5 seconds

What is your setting for the startupScan property? It should be set to 'true'. If it is set to 'full', this would cause slow rescan performance.

If you are getting slow rescans with startupScan set to 'true', the next step would be to enable debug logging during the rescan to see exactly how long it is taking to rescan each file and folder. Please do the following:

1) From the minim icon, select 'Show log' and change the logging level to Debug
2) From the Synology Package Center, stop and restart MinimServer
3) The restart will do a rescan and write timing information to the minimserver.log file
4) After the restart is complete, use File Station to download the minimserver.log file from the MinimServer/appData file to your computer
5) Zip the minimserver.log file and attach the zipped file to a post here
6) Change the logging level back to Info

Thanks for this. It looks like MinimServer is spending a lot of time scanning @eaDir directories. These are created automatically by Synology DSM within your music library and they contain album art images extracted from your music files. I have made a change in update 85 (now available) to prevent MinimServer from scanning these directories and this should reduce your rescan times.
