WHY? Wav playback is way better than Flac or Internet Radio
I am not too happy playing flac files or Internet Radio through Minimserver as they may exhibit too much of high frequencies. I have tried adding flac:wav as transcode value but did not make much difference. For some reason flac:wav24 does not work..
However, playing wav files is another story. Sound is way better with lots of dynamics and nice top end.
Am is missing any setup or anyone else have noticed similar differences?

What hardware are you using to run MinimServer? Which renderer are you using?

Hardware is Synology 412+. Renderer is Oppo 103d controlled from Android or Ipad Oppo Media Player.
BTW, today i tried running the same Internet Radio channel directly from my NUC via USB to my DAC as comparison to running from Minimserver/minimstreamer. Sound is near similar or Minimserver source maybe a touch blacker/clearer.

I am inclining to think Minimserver is showing clear differences between WAV, FLAC and internet radio 128kpbs stream differences. WAV sounds glorious in all respect.

WAV and FLAC are identical if you get them from the same source. 128kpbs regardless of the format is very low fidelity. Can you verify that your WAV and FLAC are from the same source?

Yes they are. All are stored in the NAS storage drive.

Are both the FLAC and WAV file from the same source, i.e. were they ripped from the same CD at the same bitrate, etc, etc.

Both files are lossless. If you create an uncompressed, lossless FLAC rip from the WAV file, do you still here the difference?

I'd suggest that this should be enough evidence that that it's more likely to be something different about those FLAC files of yours rather than WAV file playback being 'better', since MinimServer (via MinimStreamer) is transcoding those FLAC files to WAV with the flac:wav setting and so you renderer is actually playing WAV files anyway!

Ok thanks all. I dont remember well how i ripped thefiles into FLAC...i will do more listening and will see.
Anyway, i am inclined to keep ripping through uncompressed WAV - as i got lots of space.
Thought there were sime settings in Minimserver which was causing this.
All good.

It is not a matter of space, but of Metadata. FLAC is more elaborate, complete and flexible when it comes to metadata and MinimServer takes full use of that. With WAV and AIFF, metadata literally was an afterthought. FLAC was designed with streaming and metadata in mind.
