|
Now what?
I downloaded the Mac OSX version of MinimServer and opened it. It asked me to select the file where my music resides, which I did. Then nothing. I can't see my music files. The program is open and the icon is transparent, but my only options when I click on it are, Stop, Restart, Properties, Show log, About and Exit. I went to the Log section and it indicated that everything was fine. I'm a total novice at this. How do I use this program to play my music? I have a mid 2007 iMac and I stream music to a PS Audio Perfect Wave Dac. Also, can I use Linn Kinsky on my iPhone to control the streaming?

MinimServer is just that—a server. You need a control point (such as Kinsky) to browse and play your music. When you start Kinsky on your iPhone, it should find the MinimServer library on your Mac. Click on the library icon and you'll see a top-level index for your music collection. |

The MinimServer Library doesn't appear as a choice on the Library Page. I restarted MinimServer and ran a Debug Log, which I've attached. |

This log shows that MinimServer has started correctly and the control point is sending requests to it (GetSortCapabilities and GetSearchCapabilities). MinimServer is responding correctly to these requests by sending back empty strings.
Which control point are you using? It looks like the control point isn't happy with the responses it is receiving from MinimServer. Can you try a different control point? |

The trace log you posted doesn't match what I'm seeing when I start Kinsky. When I do this, there aren't any GetSortCapabilities or GetSearchCapabilities requests. Please can you do the following: 1) Close Kinsky completely (force-quit it if you're running it on iPhone) 2) Set the MinimServer logging level to Info 3) Select Exit from the minim icon to completely exit from MinimServer 4) Relaunch the MinimServer application 5) When MinimServer has finished starting, set the logging level to Debug 6) Start Kinsky and select the MinimServer library if you see it 7) Set the MinimServer logging level to Info 8) Save the MinimServer log output and post it here Please be careful to follow these steps exactly. I completed all of the steps carefully, but when I got to step 6, the MinimServer library was not present on Kinsky; only the three Directv libraries that always appear there. Here's the log after I completed all of the steps:

You might need to add an exception in the firewall to allow MinimServer to receive incoming connections. As a first step, try disabling the Mac firewall (Security & Privacy > Firewall) to see if that helps. Some other recommended settings: 1) In Security & Privacy > General, select the option to allow applications downloaded from the Mac App store and identified developers 2) In Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options, make sure MinimServer is on the exception list to allow incoming connections 3) In Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options, check the box that automatically allows signed software to receive incoming connections 4) In Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options, make sure the box to block all incoming connections is unchecked |
