QNAP occasional crashes
First a minor possible documentation issue. On this page https://minimserver.com/ug-running.html it says "On a QNAP NAS, the log file default location is the Public shared folder". On my QNAP the logfiles seem to be in the shared minimserver directory.
And now to my real reason for posting and why I was looking for the logfiles. I am seeing occasional 'crashes' of minimserver. The symptoms are I notice a grey minimwatch icon. I go to my control point and minimserver is missing. I go to the Configuration page and get a blank page. Log on to QNAP (TS251) and go to the APP CENTRE and minimserver is shown as running. Do a stop and start on minimserver and all is back to normal. Not a big issue but reporting my experience. If I can provide any more info just ask. |

RE: QNAP occasional crashes
The log file location was changed in MinimServer 2 and this page has not been updated. I will fix this soon. Thanks for letting me know about this.
Please check the data subfolder under the MinimServer shared folder for any files with names that start "minimserver-crash" or "hs_err". If you don't see either of these, the next time it happens and before restarting MinimServer, please copy the minimserver.log and minimserver-out.log files to another location and post the final portions of both these files here. |

RE: QNAP occasional crashes
It happened again today so about 10 days since the last time. I thought I had subscribed to this thread but hadn't, so hadn't seen your reply, sorry. I will definitely send files next time it happens.

RE: QNAP occasional crashes
Are there any files in the MinimServer/data folder with names that start "minimserver-crash" or "hs_err"? If so, these should provide some clues.

RE: QNAP occasional crashes
Afraid not but, unfortunately, I didn't look until after I had restarted Minimserver - I assume they would be overwritten on restart?

RE: QNAP occasional crashes
The minimserver.log and minimserver-out.log files are overwritten by a restart but the other files (if present) aren't overwritten. Thanks for checking.
