Threaded Mode | Linear Mode

I have MinimServer running on a QNAP NAS, using it to feed e.g. my TV music client. For control, I am using MinimWatch on a Windows 10 PC now.

To the best of my current knowledge, rescanning the music folders (e.g. after adding more music) requires me to start MinimWatch and choose Rescan. This will restart MinimServer and do a rescan (granted, very fast) during startup (subject to some setting if I am not mistaken).

A typical situation for me is to look for a certain artist/album on the TV, then realize the MinimServer has not rescanned yet after I added it. Then I need to fire up the PC, command the rescan and return to the living room to try again.

Is there any way to make this easier, ideally do some automatic rescan in frequent intervals?

I think you will have to resort to using the QNAP scheduling feature and invoke the MinimServer script as described in the following page

Thanks for pointing me to the documentation, I should have looked there first.

I managed to find the mscript tool in my MinimWatch installation on the PC and verified it can be used to start a rescan. From here, it just seems to be some wrestling with the QNAP box to automate that on the NAS.

Anyway, if there's any way without scripting that I've overlooked, I'd still be grateful for a hint.
edit: Nevermind, done already. And actually more fun this way too. Wink
