Scan Automatically
Hi folks,
It's been a while since I've delved into the bowls of Minimserver functionality, but I added some music to my library on my NAS a fortnight (or so) ago. Today I browsed to the new music folders on my control point (Linn app), but noticed that MinimServer hadn't rescanned. Forgive me but isn't Minimserver supposed to scan and update the index periodically on its own? I feel sure this was the case. System details below: Synology DS220+ DSM 7.0.1-42218 MinimServer 2.2 update 233. Thank you. T |

RE: Scan Automatically
MinimServer has never done automatic scanning. I would like to make rescanning quicker after adding a few new files and not require a MinimServer restart. This requires some significant changes to MinimServer internals so it is a medium-term rather than a short-term goal.
Fully automatic rescanning that is 100% reliable and can cope with any kind of library change is very difficult to implement and would be likely to compromise sound quality because of the overhead of continuously checking for changes. I think the change described above would be a good first step and might be sufficient for most people's needs. |

RE: Scan Automatically
Hello,
At this point, what Minimserver is able to do in terms of automatic scans ? I have noticed that downloading files directly in a sub-folder (via Lidarr, with Deluge or Sabnzbd) does not trigger any update. Would it detect if I move the files within the scanned folder ? Cheers |

RE: Scan Automatically
I remember that moving files manually would trigger a detection by MinimServer. Unless my memories are unreliable..
I should try again. Maybe Simon will tell us what is implemented. Cheers PS: I use a Synology Nas, 1817+ |

RE: Scan Automatically
MinimServer does not do automatic rescans after files have been added or changed and I don't have any plans to add this. On Synology it should be straightforward to use Task Scheduler to do a rescan on a fixed time schedule using the mscript rescan command.
