Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
I have a Macbook Pro Apple M3 Max running MacOS Seqouia 15.2. I have just tried to launch Minimwatch and receive the following pop-up message: "MinimWatch: Local Network access is disabled; enable access and relaunch MinimWatch" see the attached screenshot if you can open it
[attachment=3292]

I do not know how to enable access for MinimWatch to the Local Network, I have never needed to do that before. I have a similar problem with QFinder Pro, which is difficult to understand because in Settings....Local Network QFinder Pro access is enabled. MinimWatch is not listed there, but I do not know how to add it to the list of applications.

I have downloaded the r4 version of MinimServer 2.2 and MinimWatch 2,2, but I am not sure that I have successfully installed them on my computer, the usual procedure of dragging and dropping them into the Appiications folder does not seem to work.

Can anyone help, please?

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
Simon, I have just contacted Apple Support about adding an app (MinimServer/MinimWatch) to Settings<Privacy and Security<Local Network so that the app can access and communicate with devices on the local network and received this response "Local Network Privacy is new in Sequoia. The developer would have to update the app with a "multicast entitlement" so that it can be granted access by the user. You can't do it yourself."

Have you, or are you, updating MinimServer/MinimWatch accordingly, Simon? This must be a general problem for users of the app.

Best wishes, and Happy New Year!!

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
Happy New Year!

MinimServer and MinimWatch were updated to 2.2.r4 on 23rd October to add the necessary support for local network access permission in macOS Sequoia.

To install MinimWatch 2.2.r4, follow the instructions in this section. If anything doesn't go as described in these instructions, post back here with full details of what happened.

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
Hi again, Simon!
Before I saw your reply above I had done what I should have done last night and gone through the MinimServer/MinimWatch documentation which I accessed through my QNAP. I there found all the instructions to which you refer. I have followed them scrupulously and Hey Presto, everything is working perfectly again.

So the answer to my question in the second post above is that yes, you as the developer have updated the app accordingly back in October! My red-faced apologies for not having looked at the excellent and detailed documentation that you provide for us users before launching into a post on the forum.

MinimServer/Minimwatch remains my preferred app for accessing my music, not least because of the outstanding support you provide for your users! Many thanks!

I am pleased to hear this is working for you now. Don't worry about posting your question here. I'm sure there are other users who don't yet know about this change and raising it on the forum helps to make them aware.

Gonzalez,
In fact, I want to thank you for posting your question here, since it allowed me to find a fix for the same issue very quickly. And, Simon, also thanks to you for implementing a solution so fast. I can imagine staying on top of the latest brainwaves of the software vendors is quite a challenge.
Best, Per.

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
hi .. i upgrades to Mac Sequoia 15.3 and Minim Watch is no longer working with the msg "MinimWatch: Local Network access is disabled; enable access and relaunch MinimWatch". I deleted minim Watch und installed the latest pkg 2.2.r4 and dropped it to the application folder. i opened minim Watch and got the usual Msg '"MinimWatch" is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?'. I clicked open and nothing happend. The additional needed questions about "Do you want the application "MinimWatch" to accept incoming network connections?" is not visible and also the new Question related to Sequoia are not there.

I have checked Java and im on version 8 update 441.

I have also checked the Network setting within Privacy and security and MinimWatch ist not listed

I have used minim Watch without problems before i updated to 15.3

Any hints or recommendation

RE: Unable to open Minimwatch after upgrade to Mac OS Sequoia
I have just updated to Sequoia 15.3.1 to try this. My Mac was previously runnng Sequoia 15.2. The update completed successfully and both MinimWatch and MinimServer are runnng correctly and showing Local Network access as enabled in the Privacy & Security settings.

I am running JDK 21 and I recommend that you install this version of Java. There have been problems reported with local network access when running Java 8. For details of how to download and install JDK 21, see this page.
