Excellent, thanks Simon. I wonder is it the Synology Audiostation software that creates these ? Presumably redundant as I already have folder.jpg in each folder created using dbPoweramp RE: Rescan - taking a long time - konnexion - 08-06-2016 12:10 Can confirm that this update has made a huge difference ! RE: Rescan - taking a long time - Peterkj - 04-07-2016 16:15 Hi Simon, I am facing the same issue. It takes around 15 minutes to do a rescan. Have attached my log file. (Had to split it in two due to size restrictions). Are you able to take a quick look, please? Many thanks Kind regards, Peter PS. I am aware that I have a playlist which creates some error entries ... RE: Rescan - taking a long time - Peterkj - 04-07-2016 16:17 Now part two of the log file .... This prevents MinimServer from using its cache file, which means the contents of all your audio files are being read and processed every time you do a rescan. You will get much better rescan performance if you set the startupScan property to its default value of 'true'. See this section for details of how this works. RE: Rescan - taking a long time - Peterkj - 04-07-2016 19:14 Hi Simon, You were right. The startupScan property was set to "full". So I changed that to "true", and now a Rescan takes around 12 minutes. What I did was: 1) change the startupScan property to "true" 2) performed a Restart of MimimServer from within the Synology Package Center - which also took around 12 minutes 3) copied 14 updated files to the NAS, i.e. replaced 14 old ones with the 14 updated ones 4) performed a Rescan from the MinimWatch right-click-on-icon menu Are there any other properties that I need to set? Many thanks Kind regards, Peter RE: Rescan - taking a long time - simoncn - 04-07-2016 19:42 This still seems a bit slower than I would expect. How many albums/tracks do you have? What model of NAS do you have? What HDD(s) are in the NAS? /Peter RE: Rescan - taking a long time - simoncn - 04-07-2016 21:03 The DS214se has a very slow processor and this is probably the reason for the fairly long rescan time. I don't think there are any other property settings you could change to make rescanning faster. RE: Rescan - taking a long time - Peterkj - 04-07-2016 22:30 Thank you Simon, So if I "upgrade", e.g. to a model with a Dual Core 1.3 GHz CPU, that should be noticeable in terms of performance? How important is the system memory? Many thanks Kind regards, Peter |
