RE: Rescan - taking a long time - simoncn - 04-07-2016 22:56 Your current model has 256 MB, which is marginal for a library of your size. You can check memory consumption by looking at Resource Monitor in DSM. I would expect you are probably OK for memory at the moment but it would be advisable to make sure you have 512 MB when you upgrade. Performance is a combination of disk speed and CPU speed. Your disks are fine and there is no need to change these. I think the speed improvement with a dual-core 1.3 GHz CPU would be noticeable. Your rescan time might drop by about 2 to 3 minutes but I can't guarantee this. The processor type can make a difference as well. Which NAS model are you considering? (Specs from Synology's UK site) Any known issues with any of the above? (Well, will search the forum as well). I only intend to use the NAS for music files. DS216+II (CPU Intel Celeron N3060 64-bit Dual Core 1.6 burst up to 2.48 GHz; Memory: 1 GB DDR3) ... /Peter RE: Rescan - taking a long time - simoncn - 05-07-2016 16:51 I would suggest either the DS216 or DS216+II. RE: Rescan - taking a long time - Peterkj - 05-07-2016 17:28 Many thanks Simon, Will be on my "wishlist" for after the summer holidays ![]() /Peter |
